Game of NIM

The game of NIM is used as the final challenge to determine the sole survivor. The winning tribe splits into two teams and plays NIM. The winning team splits and plays again. This continues until the last player wins as the sole survivor.

There are many versions of the game of NIM. Generally, the pieces are arranged in arrays or rows, and participants remove 1, 2, or 3 on each turn from a single row. The objective is to force your opponent to take the last piece, or alternatively, you want to take the last piece. See three possible arrangements below.

OUTDOOR LARGE -- use 15 large stakes driven into the grass (be sure and sand the slivers off)

INDOOR LARGE -- use 15 large boxes, cones, etc on the cement or grass

MEDIUM -- use 15 large blocks or other item arranged on a table top

SMALL -- use 15 toothpicks, large paperclips, popsicle sticks, etc at each desk
